Exhibitions On Aerospace Propulsion
The Normandy region is France's third-largest hub for the aerospace sector, a real growth driver. INSA Rouen Normandie offers a number of courses that are compatible with this sector, and boasts cutting-edge skills and facilities. To highlight the richness of this cutting-edge sector, the school has created two exhibitions retracing the history of aerospace propulsion: "La vallée de la propulsion", a permanent exhibition housed within its walls, and a travelling version, "Les défis de la propulsion aérospatiale".

"The valley of propulsion"
To rise off the ground, to fly like a bird, to go faster and faster, and, since the 1940s, to embark on the conquest of space and, at the same time, to enable as many people as possible to cross the world ... These major milestones, these challenges, have led and still lead, in the field of propulsion, to adaptations of processes or products. Following in the footsteps of their predecessors, they lead to technological leaps which, in turn, generate new dynamics.
These are the stories that can be read through the "Aerospace Propulsion Valley", a permanent exhibition inaugurated in 2014 at INSA Rouen Normandie. It takes the form of a 30-metre-long chronology, ending with the display of a Vulcain 2 engine (Ariane 5's engine), assembled in Vernon (27). The evocation of key events, technological, scientific and industrial leaps, makes the issues visible, and recontextualizes them in a cross-disciplinary way.
As a venue open to the general public for events such as the school's open house and the Fête de la Science, the Valley also enables students to get involved and communicate their taste for science, particularly to younger visitors, by popularizing their knowledge or enriching the Valley with content or objects.
This exhibition was conceived with the 3AF association, thanks to the support of NAE (Normanide Aéroespace) Rouen Métropole, CNRS, Rectorat de Rouen, in partnership with Science-Action Haute-Normandie.

« Les défis de la propulsion aérospatiale", an exhibition to promote our shared culture
« Les défis de la propulsion aérospatiale » (The challenges of aerospace propulsion) is a travelling exhibition which is the offshoot of "La Vallée de la propulsion aérospatiale" (The Valley of Aerospace Propulsion) installed at INSA Rouen Normandie.
It consists of five modules, each featuring a curved structure, a multimedia terminal and a sound loop telling the fabulous story of aerospace propulsion, from the dream of flight to the complex workings of the Vulcain2 engine powering Ariane 5. The final module is devoted to portraits of local players: students, apprentices, SME managers, researchers and engineers.
The exhibition is available to schools, cultural organizations, local authorities and companies, either on its own or as part of a larger cultural project. It can also be integrated into larger industrial or scientific events.
The originality of this project lies in its approach to disseminating both technical and industrial culture.
Taking advantage of the fact that Normandy's industrial fabric is made up of dynamic, innovative companies, the touring nature of this exhibition should enable us to disseminate this culture as close as possible to the regions, throughout Normandy.

Taking advantage of the fact that Normandy's industrial fabric is made up of dynamic, innovative companies, the touring nature of this exhibition should enable this culture to be disseminated as close as possible to the regions, throughout Normandy.
Through this tool, the entire aerospace industry - one of Normandy's jewels - will be showcased, along with the trades and training courses offered by the region's educational establishments.
The aims are numerous, and can be broken down into several levels: to share the culture of innovation, as well as knowledge of international, national and local technical and industrial history and heritage, in order to better grasp the challenges of tomorrow; to understand the link between fundamental research and the economy, through innovation in industrial sectors in particular; to introduce young people to the business world and its professions; and finally, to understand the technological changes underway and their possible impact on society.
The Normandie AeroEspace (NAE) sector, Science Action Normandie and INSA Rouen Normandie have therefore joined forces to make this exhibition available to fulfill their mission and share our common culture. This exhibition is an INSA Rouen Normandie / Science Action Normandie co-production, made possible thanks to the support of the Normandy Region and the European Union under the ERDF program.
