INSA Group press release

INSA Group and OpenClassrooms launch the first MOOC “Connect-Io”

The first INSA Group Bachelor's degree

Available since early September, the MOOC "C Programming for Embedded Systems" is the first of a set of 30 courses from the Connect-IO project, jointly designed by the INSA Group and OpenClassrooms, and the first French speaking e-Education platform. The program includes 18 MOOCs and 12 SPOCs, almost all of which are currently being developed, and will be released monthly over a two-year period.

The INSA Group’s courses have legitimate weight in today’s global society, where connected objects (wristbands, watches, clips, glasses...) are expected to deeply reshape how we interact with the world and with others. "In the near future, there will doubtlessly be several billion connected objects all over the world, on our wrists, on our clothes, and in homes. Connected objects for entertainment, safety, energy consumption and health will play a key role in our daily lives", points out Jean-Yves Plantec, Connect-IO Project Manager.

Taught by INSA research professors, the MOOCs and SPOCs will cover science-related topics on “Connected Objects”, such as machine-to-machine communications, digital image processing and shape recognition, robotics, security and reliability, and embedded energy.

Jointly designed with OpenClassrooms, the modules target high school graduates, students in Science and Technology programs, including student engineers, as well as continuing education professionals. The courses will be part of the INSA Engineering curriculum, as an alternative to traditional training.

By September 2020, the INSA Group aims to offer the first accredited program focused on the fast-growing sector of connected objects: an online Bachelor's degree available in the Lifelong Learning Program to meet the professional needs of individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
